WORK HISTORY I am an OSP Network Engineer with over 20
years of experience in Planning, Designing & Drafting new
construction projects for Telephone & CATV companies. I have worked on
Verizon’s FiOS Fiber Network planning and designing fiber routes from the
Central Office and plant extensions for MDU/MTU customers. I have planned and
designed Franchise Upgrades of Fiber/Coax Networks and plant extensions for
several CATV companies. As my work history shows, moving for a job
is not an issue for me. It seems to be a requirement to keep working on new
construction projects. When a project ends in one region the next project is
usually in another part of the country. I am prepared to move to a new
location on short notice. 10/14 thru Present - CHC Consulting Lead Engineer - New OSP Network Planner,
Designer and CAD Drafter I am the lead engineer in the Austin. I am
engineering new service for MDU/MTU properties and new property developments
in the planning stage or presently under construction. My duties have also
included, Quality Assurance reviews of other engineering companies doing
preliminary engineering and as built design. 03/13 thru 09/14 - Hylan Datacom &
Electrical New OSP Network Planner, Designer and CAD
Drafter Hylan is an Engineering & Construction
Company in New York City working on a Commercial Fiber Network Expansion for
Time Warner Cable. I worked with the Survey Department and the Engineering
Department to complete plans for a new Commercial Fiber Network in Manhattan
and BAU Commercial Fiber and Coax work orders for all of NYC and parts of
Bergen County New Jersey. I still hold an active ADM Card in IBEW, Local No.
3, New York City. 10/11 thru 09/12 - Impact Solutions
Consulting New OSP Network Planner, Designer and CAD
Drafter I worked as an Off Premise Verizon FiOS
Engineer for Commercial & Residential Multi-Unit buildings. My duties
included a survey of the property to determine if there was available space
for new equipment at the existing point of entry for a building and a viable
path to the customer. If required to serve a customer, I mapped a path from
an existing cable tie point, showing new pole placement, street cuts and all
other construction requirements for the placement of a new cable. For aerial
cable I mapped a route showing existing poles, cables, equipment, guying and
anchoring required for wind/snow loading on the path. For an underground
cable I mapped the location and size of cables, conduits, pedestals, pull
boxes and manholes. After the field work was completed I
engineered and drafted a preliminary design and created a bill of materials
for the job. If the job met the price point, approval was given for me to
proceed with engineering and preliminary drafting of the work order that
included City Permit and Traffic Control drawings if required. I work with
the Verizon and City Inspectors, Construction Crews and Property Owners to
ensure the work was completed in a timely manner. 04/2011 thru 10/2011 - Findley Engineering New OSP Network Planner, Designer and CAD
Drafter I worked on a RUS project for Ballard
Telephone Corporation in West Kentucky. Primary duties were field work for
FTTH and drafting as-built. The field work consisted of staking a path for
new direct burry fiber cable, pull-boxes for slice points and service drops. Ballard used a program called
MAPCOM M4 Solutions for FTTH design and AutoCAD 2006 for drafting.
My primary duty was to develop new drafting standards and symbols for
drafting the fiber schematics of as-built fiber. None existed when I arrived.
10/2008- 04/2011 - Welsco Inc., Paragould,
AR (now Infotech) New OSP Network Planner, Designer and CAD
Drafter I worked as an Off Premise Verizon FiOS
Engineer for Commercial & Residential Multi-Unit buildings. My duties
were the same as described in my work for Impact Solutions Consulting.
My duties also included planning new HUB sites, HUB boundaries and design of
F1 & F2 routes. I also worked on out of franchise work orders planning
fiber rotes and engineering for Cell Towers and Greenfield MDU’s (new
construction) in Santa Monica and Los Angeles. I designed and drafted a
preliminary design in AutoCAD and sent it to Welsco where it was posted on the
Verizon maps. 1999-2008 - Arbor Eden Inc. Kent, WA New OSP Network Planner, Designer and CAD
Drafter In 1999 I started a company, Arbor Eden
Inc. and began working for Telco and CATV companies. Broadband clients
included Time Warner Communications, Comcast Communications, Charter
Communications and The Click Network. I have Designed (fiber & coax) and
CAD Drafted for; Comcast, Concord, CA, City of Tacoma Click Network, WA,
Cable Contractors Inc., Iron Mountain MI, Aspen International Salem, OR. I worked
on Verizon FiOS planning, designing and drafting Fiber Routes and Hubs for
The J&L Group, Islandia NY and Expertech American Div, Barrie, Ontario
Canada, In 2006 to 2008 I worked for Solcom
a contractor working for Comcast in the Concord CA region. I was assigned to
field new acquisitions and existing plant. I then designed and drafted
network upgrades from the field surveys. This included planning Node sites,
Node boundaries, Powering and Fiber Backbone. I also designed and drafted BAU
work orders for plant extensions and revisions as well as drafting updates
for fiber splice schematics and fiber route drawings. In 2003 to 2006 Expertech and The
J&L Group employed me to do field surveys and make ready for new
fiber placement for FiOS. I planned and design fiber routes for Verizon’s
FiOS build in Long Beach and Levittown on Long Island NY. This included
planning new fiber routes F1 & F2 (feeder & distribution). I planned,
designed and drafted new HUB sites, HUB boundaries and fiber to the customer.
I drafted base maps of existing plant as shown in the field survey. This
included a make ready survey that showed guying and anchoring and documenting
the height of cable attachments at the pole for clearance violations and for
wind/snow loading. In 2005 I worked in Kingston Jamaica, for a
Canadian company that was contracted to build a national CATV service. It was
a short term contract working for a friend, Shawn Ronich from Washington
State. The Jamaican company has changed names and I believe it is now called
FLOW. I set up the drafting & design specifications for the design
program LODE DATA. I did preliminary network planning and wrote preliminary
construction cost estimates and build schedules. 1993-1998 – Aspen International, Salem OR OSP Network Designer and CAD Drafter I started as a CAD Drafter and created base
maps for field engineering. I was promoted from drafter to designer and
designed new CATV networks and powering schematics. I planned and designed
Fiber Loops from the Head End to the CATV Nodes. I was also in charge of a
MDU field survey group that mapped multi-unit residential and commercial
properties for a part of a franchise upgrade. The system had 1,500 miles of
plant and included Army and Navy bases in the Puget Sound region of Washington
State. While working for Aspen I drafted and
designed over 10,000 miles of new plant, and provided a bill of materials and
all the other related documents for these projects.
DESIGN & DRAFTING PROGRAMS CATV Broadband I own LODE DATA Design Assistant &
Drafting Assistant and AutoCAD 2006. I have over 18 years
experience with LODE DATA Design Assistant and AutoCad. I also have experience with ATTMap a
program used by COMCAST in conjunction with LODE DATA Design
Assistant and AutoCAD. I am presently using BentleyV8 and
Visio for Time Warner to design and draft fiber and coax work orders. Telco BentleyV8, IDDS, ICGS, AAIS and BDMS, are the programs I
used at Verizon in California. At the J&L Group I used VISIO to
draft the HUBS I designed for Verizon in NY.
